The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) 8/10

July 4th, 2009

Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is a nice guy. He’s shy, considerate, polite, lives alone, rides his bicycle to work at Circuit City, has a pristine collection of action figures, is pathologically nervous around women and at 40 years old, is still a virgin. When his co-workers discover this, they make it their mission to get Andy lay. He reluctantly goes along with their plan, but when he meets Trish Piedmont (Catherine Keener), a single mother of three, she changes everything.

The movie is actually quite suitable for teenager. It’s full of fun & education elements. There is absolutely no shame in being a virgin, it is a good thing.

Drag Me To Hell (2009) 8/10

July 4th, 2009

After denying a woman Mrs. Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver) the extension she needs to keep her home, loan officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) sees her once-promising life take a startling turn for the worse. Christine is convinced she’s been cursed by a Gypsy, but her boyfriend (Justin Long) is skeptical. Now, her only hope seems to lie in a psychic (Dileep Rao) who claims he can help her lift the curse and keep her soul from being dragged straight to hell.

The old woman look of Mrs. Ganush is so scary, I’m so afraid to see her pop out from the scene. She just looks like a demon to me. (WARNING: Do not watch alone at night)

Overall, it is Christine false who makes the decision to not extend Mrs. Ganush needs to keep her home due to an Assistant Manager opportunity. That result her been cursed for drag straight to hell.

The results of being bad -> drag straight to hell.

The Hangover (2009)

June 30th, 2009

I not quite understand why this movie having such a high rating in IMDb (8.3/10), but I must agree that it is not that bad, full of unexpected things pop out.

Phil Wenneck (Bradley Cooper), Stu Price (Ed Helms) & Alan Garner (Zach Galifianakis) take Doug Billings (Justin Bartha) who is about to be married to Las Vegas for a bachelor party. 4 of them had a wild night which they cannot even remember what they had done on the next morning.

Phil, Stu & Alan wake up in the morning without seeing Doug start their adventure to find clues looking for him. Many unexpected things happen during their adventure.

Titanic (1997)

June 29th, 2009

This is a romantic love story. I personally like it very much.

Both Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater & Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson meet each other on the Titanic ship. In a very short period, they fall in love with each other.

When the Titanic incident happens, there is a lot of water flooded scenes. Here all the actions come in.

Other then that, Jack showing how much he care about Rose’s survival also one of the selling point for the movie. The power of love is just too amazing.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

June 21st, 2009

Jason Segel acts as Peter Bretter who just get dumped by his girlfriend and how he takes it like a man.

At first, Peter finds it very hard to forget his girlfriend - Sarah Marshall who is a television star. But after he meets Rachel Jansen who is a hotel receptionist during Peter’s trip to Hawaii, he finally manages to forget Sarah Marshall.

Get dumped didn’t mean end of the world after all.

Terminator Salvation (2009)

June 14th, 2009

The whole movie is surrounding John Connor, who is the future Resistance leader against Skynet.

  1. Skynet want to kill Kyle Reese who is the father of John Connor which they believe without Kyle Reese, John Connor will disappear.
  2. Skynet design Marcus Wright to fulfill his programmed mission to lure John Connor into the Skynet base to be killed.

In the end of the movie, the Resistance had won the battle, but the war is far from over.

Overall, the movie is actually not bad. But the storyline is quite confusing. The last 2 minutes ending is the worst.

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) Review

June 6th, 2009

Johnny Depp as the elder son of his family play an important role after his father passes away. He takes a very big responsibility to take care of his family. It is kind of touching to have such a nice elder brother.

Leonardo DiCaprio as a mentally handicapped brother of Johnny Depp also performs very well in the movie. His acting is super best.

Both of them didn’t fail me.
